Appearance[]

Di Gi Charat is a short humanoid catgirl, with bright green hair styled into split bangs, and large green eyes. She is usually wearing a dress resembling a maid's dress, a hat resembling a white, green-eyed cat's head, and large mitten-like sleeves and socks resembling cat's paws. she wears three large bells, one under each ear and one on her neck, all adorned with blue ribbons, while her socks and tail are also adorned with ribbons. She keeps this design through the original anime series, the OVAs, Di Gi Charat Nyo, and Reiwa no Di Gi Charat.

In Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat, Dejiko is even smaller, and her outfit now consists of a plain pink dress, with darker pink ribbons replacing the blue ribbons of her original outfit. she carries a white cat bag as an accessory, and now wears shoes; pink Mary Jane-styled shoes with small pink ribbons on the straps.

In Winter Garden, Dejiko's design has completely changed; now being an adult human woman, she is much taller and more mature looking, with a far less saturated shade of green hair, in a more sideswept style. She now wears a white button-up shirt and plaid skirt, as well as a large brown jacket and dark brown boots that go just below her knees. she wears a headband adorned with two small cat heads, one white and one yellow, as a callback to her original appearance. She is also depicted wearing a charm of her original self in some key art.

The 2008 redesign of Di Gi Charat kept her design similar to her original appearance, but gave her red eyes, sideswept bangs and a more ornate maid's dress, in a lighter shade of blue, along with a maid's headband and a very large white ribbon on the back of the dress.

Personality[]

In direct contrast to her apperance, Di Gi Charat is a very hot-headed girl, who tends to be lazy when not motivated, and stubborn when she is. Her temper builds easily, often at the pushing of rival Rabi~En~Rose or her guardian Gema, and she is quick to fire her eye-beams at those who annoy her. She also shows a lack of respect for others, such as her fans Takeshi and Yoshimi, whom she dubs 'Bukimi' ("eerie" or "weird"), or will refuse to help others even in situations she can easily solve, such as when she sees Tokyo being attacked by a large monster and doesn't feel like stopping it, so she doesn't. She also loves to annoy and aggravate others despite being easily annoyed herself, such as calling Rabi~En~Rose "Usada". Dejiko does, however, care about her sister, and will do things to protect her sister (such as going to America to find her) and, while she attempted to blow up Rabi~En~Rose with a cake bomb, she did have second thoughts and ultimately regretted doing so.

In Panyo Panyo, Dejiko's personality is very different, as she is motivated by helping others and trying to spread happiness and love. While she is significantly kinder and no longer aggressive or angry, her stubborn streak remains, especially when it pertains to her goal of helping others, which she tries to do even as her family and guardians urge her to behave.

Much like other characters with animal motifs in the series, Dejiko has a verbal tic: ending sentences with "nyo", which serves as a naming theme throughout the entire series, with many song titles ending in "nyo", as well as it forming part of the names of two anime series; Panyo Panyo & Di Gi Charat Nyo!
